Walk the Perimeter

When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in. Joshua 6:5 NIV.

I believe that walking and marching are part of who I am. As a high school student, I had a grand passion for the Marching Band. I walked in different weather, listening to sad songs. After getting saved, I would walk around town, listening to worship and praying. For years, I kept doing that. I strolled along South Street in Philadelphia, distributing tracts for hours.

I halted my walking for a long time. As I sat at my job, my weight climbed to 380lbs. I prayed and felt prompted by possible death if this continued. I then sought Jesus on this matter. I left my job as the Lord had led me.

He guided me towards a more active job that made me walk again. While praying, the Lord guided me to march and walk the perimeter. By surrendering and trusting the process, I lost 140 lbs. My spiritual well-being changed when I embraced new practices. When my stress levels lowered, I started feeling better.

Every week, I attend prayer meetings, and many of us walk and pray. Some march to worship. This is our one chance to fight. I like to fight by walking with my hands raised and ready.

There are many methods of praying. We can get on our knees or on our faces. We can sit or even shower. Anyone who believes can talk to God anytime or anywhere. We can walk, run, skip, or march. The most significant part is spending time with Jesus—the enemy searches for a crack in our hearts to exploit it. By crushing the gates of Hades and breaking his walls down, we can conquer him with our King.

Lord, tear down the walls and barriers of our enemy. Reclaim the boundaries and the elevated spots. May our praises serve as a powerful weapon. Amen, in the name of Jesus.
