It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. Philippians 1:15 NIV.
The other day, a social media site congratulated me. After Live that morning, they told me I performed better than 67% of others. They wanted to notify me, and I replied.
Unaware that it was a competition, I go on Live each day. After reading the newest devotional, I pray as we start our day. Once a week, I teach Bible study.
Envy can arise among believers. They function better than us. By using someone on Live, the Lord attracts thousands of viewers. We receive only a few, perhaps a hundred. When we question God and how He uses someone more than us, prayers arise, as we are less important.
When the thumb tries to poke an eye out, it becomes terrible. If the toe gets it, the whole foot will stick it in our mouth. The body of Christ operates together. Debaters, worshippers, prayer warriors, and Christians like us are teaching His Word. While others receive more viewers than me, I still have my audience. Is it right for us to feel envious that the Lord uses them more than us? As we all strive to advance Jesus and His Good News. There is no competition.
To surrender those feelings, we must bring them to the Lord. Each one of us functions in His body by carrying out different roles. After someone told me they felt insignificant, comparing themselves to a foot, I informed them that the foot crushes satan's head. Find your purpose and flourish. Don't focus on what everyone else is doing to avoid being envious. The result is a toe jam.
Lord, lead us to feel grateful for everything. Reveal our gifts and talents so we can thrive in them. Teach us to use them for Your Kingdom and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
