Somebody's Watching Me!

ree

Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to. 1 Timothy 5:13 NIV.

There was a popular song by Rockwell in January 1984 called, Somebody’s Watching Me. I have a theory about this. Michael Jackson spent most of his life getting watched. People took pictures, invaded his privacy, and made his life miserable. The song was a one hit wonder, but Jackson sang backup on it. My theory is Jackson got Rockwell to sing the song for him and did backup. Michael's life probably felt that way. He always got observed.

We all get looked at. Every store has cameras. My job has surveillance. I recently got some to guard my home. I got told that I should care about people spying on my phone. All my conversations revolve around Jesus. They get a dose of the Gospel if they are peeping in on me.

I talked to a guy in Idaho about an interesting situation. Someone put cameras and microphones in his home. They listened to private conversations. The listener later informed the man of his words. He finally figured out they spied on him.

We need to be careful not to become busybodies. Then spend our time watching others. We can focus on others and not cherish our valuable time. We can care about what they feel or think. Listen to what they say even illegally, like my friend in Idaho. It pushed Michael Jackson to his limits.

This verse says if we are idle and focus on others, it can make us busybodies. Then speak foolishly or make an inadvertent revelation. Avoid meddling in others' affairs. They should leave some things for them and God to handle. Every nosey individual should not be privy to it.

Lord, remove thoughts of being busybodies from us. Lead us to live private and good lives. Then, if someone wants to share, help us cherish and pray for them. Then not share it with the world. In Jesus’ name, amen.
