Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going out about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to. 1 Timothy 5:13 NIV.
I watched another reality show that was full of viciousness. It was neat because the individual flew hundreds of miles to confront them. Then screamed about the situation. The other person apologized and admitted to specific issues. The person became speechless and unsure of what to do next. They expected them to disagree and feed into the fight. Everyone involved looked gloomy.
Almost every show that is on TV contains inner ugliness. There are miserable people. They have the goal of making everyone feel wretched. It hurts my heart to see this misery. They laugh and tear people down. They will do whatever it takes to have the final say.
Adults and children watch and learn behaviors. The Greek word is Kakos. Our misery drives us to bring others down with us. They will go to any length to make others feel inadequate. Reality shows are full of them. Couples get fed up with one another. Families make someone feel dejected. Unhappiness reigns.
I meditated a lot on gratefulness this month. The first response is thankfulness for salvation when I witness unsaved behavior. I imagine life without Jesus. Then, pray for those in the situation. It's not about superiority or elitism. I feel grateful for forgiveness if I fly off the handle. Also, to pray for others in these circumstances.
Inner ugliness could rule our lives. Darkness could guide our direction. Prayer becomes opportune in the face of misery. We could all get caught in a downward spiral of nonsensical drama. Then, if we find ourselves caught in the Kakos trap, we can surrender it to Jesus.
Release those in misery, Lord. Remove their attitudes and adjust our behaviors. Change them from the inside. Thank You for breaking the bondages of misery. In Jesus’ name, amen.
