No Disassemble!

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26 NIV.
One great movie in the eighties was Short Circuit. There was a robot named Johnny Five who believed he was alive. He had a host of enemies who desired to disassemble him. He made friends, and they protected him from disassembly.
In his epistle, James talked about how a believer can’t walk away from someone without helping them. We will accomplish works that lead to life. The purpose of deeds is to help others. If we say we have faith and do not help, it’s dead.
We do not just go to church. We assemble. When we buy a bike from the store, it comes in the box in pieces. That is religion. It gathers in a denomination, like when we do deeds. They are dead ones.
Assembly is bone to bone. We build and join those bike pieces, which work when we ride together. Then, receive fulfillment and life through coming together. We connect ourselves and join, and then the bike gets built to ride forward. Then all achieve life in Christ.
We do not gather but assemble. Then, connect. Offense causes many to leave the church. Then, they attempt to work it out themselves. But if our hand disconnected from the body, then it would die.
The church can exist in a building, park, restaurant, or podcast. People join and connect through Him. My one friend says when he gets together with people in the community, they have church.
Our idea of church involves attending a building on Sundays, going out for lunch, and paying the pastor. Then, head home to nap. It can become a dead orthodoxy.
Church is much more than that. When we come together as believers, there is some assembly required. We must not disassemble.
Heal the believers, Lord. Take us out of this church mentality. Bring us to the understanding of assembly. Draw us closer to You and others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
