Majority Rule

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30 NIV.
We must make choices. We can either stand with Christ and face the world's judgment or stand with the world and face Christ's judgment. Should we follow Jesus' teachings or conform to societal norms? I found that culture loves to trap Christians and ostracize them, potentially leading us away from our true path.
Twelve spies went into the promised land. They all witnessed the same events. Two returned with excitement, while ten became skeptical.
Majority rule can be toxic. The ten spies saw the physical. There were giants. Obstacles can overtake us. We are all going to die. But the minority saw the spiritual. There were giants, but our God is greater than them. Hindrances are there, but God can overcome any barriers. The ten voted to stay away as the two, Caleb and Joshua, proclaimed the greatness of God with unwavering courage. They became the only ones of the twelve to enter the promised land, a testament to their steadfast faith.
Believers get bombarded by majority rule. We are remnants of lives overwhelmed by the world. When we live for Christ, it can become a stumbling block to unbelievers. This can lead to confrontation. Do we stand with Jesus or succumb to the world? Ten of our coworkers could surround us in a breakroom during lunch and ask where we stand on Christianity. What will we say? While at the gym, a camera captures us sharing Jesus with someone else. It happened to my friend. He got banned from sharing those beliefs.
There is a cost when we follow Christ. The Bible says the majority will not follow Jesus. They will attempt to pressure us into popular mainstream rule. We can be the minority like Caleb and Joshua. Choose God or embrace the world’s desires.
Give us strength to stand for You, Lord. Continue to guide us as we position our hearts in You. Lead us in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
