Lose Weight Now!

I enjoyed The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy. Professor Klump had a weight problem. He developed a formula to lose it fast. Then succeeded but the side effect was a terrible attitude. Weight loss methods can be dangerous.

According to the CDC, obesity in the country is around 50%. It increased almost 20% since the year 2000. It has been my struggle. I ate a lot for years because of depression, anger, and other factors. God healed me and I have fought to lose it.

Here’s the issue. I exercised, took vitamins, dieted, and all the stuff that we see on TV—slow and quick fixes—then started in 2023 at 380lbs. The largest I ever was! But I forgot something. I spent life surrendered to God. I wrote a devotional about it. In every battle, issue, and problem, He got the victory when I surrendered. Then I realized I never submitted my weight. I did this past January.

The Lord prompted me to resign from my position and enter a more active one. Then, walk daily. I walked my first 5k this year with a friend. We had fun together. Then, He curbed my diet. This brought victory when everything else failed in the past. I lost 82lbs as of November. The answer was to relinquish it.

Why do we forget to lay life down to Him? We sing many songs about surrender. The answer to my weight loss was give it all to God.

That is the answer to everything. Hand over every struggle to Jesus. One of my favorite verses is, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” "Be still" in Hebrew is "hands off!" We must give our all to the King of Kings.

We surrender all today, Lord. Take everything we struggle with. We lay it on Your cross. Thank You for making the yoke lighter. We give You praise. In Jesus' name, amen.
