You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. Haggai 1:6 NIV.
I am an art teacher at a Christian school. I teach Junior and Senior High. My wife assists and is a vital part. The common initial inquiry most people ask is about my earnings. They get confused when I tell them it costs us money. Then, struggle with the answer. Most of the staff are volunteers. Because benefits require sight of the kingdom. We invest in souls.
There was a memorial in Joshua. The Lord instructed parents to teach the next generation about the Lord. The Judges' era began after they never did. Everyone acted according to their own beliefs. We need to raise up the next generation. Teach them about our mighty God.
We need new Christian leaders. We lost many in the last decade. Billy Graham, Charles Stanley, Chuck Colson, Pat Robertson, Chuck Smith, and others. I hoped the Lord could use me to lead in great capacities. He had other plans. We need sold-out souls to climb into those roles. Perhaps one of our students will achieve that honor.
The Bible prohibits investing in the world (cosmos). Haggai says investing in the world is like putting our money in a bag full of holes. It is important to make eternal investments.
To give into the Kingdom is good. We invest through prayer, time, and resources. They all have eternal rewards. Then take what we have to the cross today and lay it at the feet of Jesus, who gave us everything.
Raise up a new generation of believers, Lord. Use them to affect the next one. Be over our school and others who pour Your love into the youth. Raise up a chosen people to march through this land. In Jesus’ name, amen.
