Horizon

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24 NIV.

Kevin Costner’s movie Horizon was released. He contributed 38 million dollars with his own money. After its release, the movie became a flop. People have different opinions on why. Despite everything, I commend Costner for what he did. We need to fulfill our dreams sometimes. Our beliefs may not align with our plans.

While putting in thousands instead of millions, I wrote God’s Mess and published it. After much prayer, I believed this is what the Lord desired. Hoping for its success, I expected it to be a future bestseller. I realized it was not what I thought. The book sold, but not as expected.

The Lord calls us to be obedient actions despite not aligning with our expectations. The comments I received were the best part of the first book. Through it, people wrote about how Jesus touched their lives. People were encouraged by hearing what they needed to hear.

Because money belongs to the kingdom, we aim to gain souls and disciple believers by doing tasks. My heart fills with gratitude as the Lord heals the wounds of others.

Our reward is in heaven. In desiring to fulfill our passions, God will use what He places in front of us for His glory. I conclude by saying this. I never believed in a million years that I could write a book. This is my second devotional. All things are possible with God. It would be best if you did not underestimate or undervalue your dreams and passions. Perhaps Jesus placed them in your heart for a purpose.

Lord, we thank You for our dreams and hopes. When we surrender them to You, I pray that You direct our lives to purpose. Let us strive to fulfill our heavenly-minded passions. In Jesus’ name, amen.
