Holy Bags or Bags with Holes?

You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. Haggai 1:6 NIV.
I read Haggai this morning. What I studied lined up with the Bible class I attended yesterday. What do we use our resources for?
We can’t invest in the world (cosmos). We put finances in holy bags, not bags with holes. Haggai said we toss money away when empowering the world. Then funding the Kingdom of God is an eternal investment.
Jesus while alive. That is the white throne of judgment. Non-believers get judged for never accepting salvation. Jesus said we only find it through Him.
The second is the Bema Seat. We will get judged for what we did for His Kingdom. That everything we did will get tested on fire. What we did for Him will shine like gold. What we did in vain becomes ash. Then receive crowns to lay at the feet of our Lord.
We invest in His Kingdom through prayer, time, and resources. They all have eternal rewards. We lay what He gave us in life on the cross. Then surrender it so we can one day lay our crowns at His feet. As George Bennard wrote, I will cling to the old rugged cross. Then exchange someday for a crown.
Thank You for the cross, Lord. We praise You for Your blessing, which is new daily. We ask You to grant us wisdom and direction in what we do with them. Thank You for that guidance. In Jesus’ name, amen.
