Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV.
I took my daughter to the lake one day to play and get some fresh air. This is where I learned about geese. They can be mean animals. She wanted to play with them, but instead, they chased her. She fell and landed in a mud pile. Then she sat up, looked at her dirty hands, and cried.
We can all use help in our times of need. The Greek term for help here is (Frape). Sailors, when a storm came, frapped a ship. They feared a storm would crack the hull of a boat. They would let down ropes and chains off the ship and tie them to keep the ship from breaking apart. To tie the boat together so it won’t break apart.
I ran and picked her up out of the mud. Geese prepared to attack her once more. I held her tight and got mud all over me. Then I stood and gave them a look, all the time holding her in my arms. I frapped her in my embrace and protected her from the harmful geese that had already knocked her in the mud.
I assured her that there was nothing to fear. I placed her down, and the geese prepared to attack once more. This time, they saw me standing behind her. I told her to walk towards them, and I stood close. They flew away. I needed her to see she could stand, but when she needed me, I would frape my arms around her and hold her tight.
God wraps us in His grace. He always helps in times of need. When life knocks us down into the mud, He wraps His arms around us and clenches. He is a magnificent God.
Wrap Your arms around those who are hurting this morning, Lord. Hold them tightly through the storm. Then teach us to stand and face our enemies as they see You standing behind us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
