Flash Fire

ree

My heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue. Psalm 39:3 NIV.

In the fire department, something happened during my tenure. We got different calls. The main ones were accidents, overdose, transport, and natural disasters. We used an ECM to monitor those. I noticed something when it went off. The primary calls brought a few firefighters. No one attended because of prior engagements. Then when a fire broke out, everyone rushed towards it. Men fought to enter the building—five, six, and seven alarms, with people coming out of the woodwork.

A flash fire ignites and spreads at high temperatures but lasts briefly.

I also saw this as an elder. A prayer service brought a few people. Believers gathered to pray for different areas in need. When that transformed into a prophetic message, people emerged from everywhere. They did everything they could to get fed.

The elder, referred to prayer and the urgency of it in the recent one. Next week, most people will resume their routines, while a few will gather to pray.

That was always true, based on my observations. But prayer is difficult. I get dissatisfied with my relationship with God often. Then don’t pray enough or seek after Him. I will allow life's concerns to overwhelm me, too.

We should have continued fervently for God during these intense meetings and not burn out. But the spark of fire dissipates, and it’s back to the grind.

The devil is called the accuser of the brethren. The word accuser means to categorize. To manage and list your life. Then live based on appointments and schedules. We cannot just get by but live.

We need to return to a more uncomplicated relationship with Jesus. I know I do. I pray we all should in this lukewarm world.

Burn bright and deep in us, Lord. Let's prioritize the most important relationship. Draw us closer in these dark times. Help us shine again in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
