Creeping Death

ree

This is what God the Lord says- the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk in it. Isaiah 42:5 NIV.

Robert Bolt said death comes for us all. We cannot escape it. It is unstoppable.

Every week, atheists stop by Wednesday Bible study. They love to point out untruths. Like how Christians don’t use logic, dislike science, and believe in fairytales. I always express how science pointed me to Jesus and the Bible. Then they call me names like flat earther when God’s Word says,

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. Isaiah 40:22 NIV

What goes through an atheist's heart when death creeps in? Voltaire said he would've given up half of everything he owned for six extra months. Then curse God. His last words were it's dark.

I can't comprehend a life without Jesus. A death without Him.

I officiated a lot of funerals. There is no coping mechanism inside us to deal with death. Adam and Eve fell, and we weren't supposed to die. People at wakes fought, cursed, and hurt themselves or others. Many crumbled when faced with reality.

I also sat with many Christians before their last breath. We read Revelation and talked about heaven. I let them know I envied them. One day, it will be my time to take that journey.

Believers do not need to fear death. We can live life without worry. Then, it will creep up on us. When it does, we will stand without pain, fear, or shame. We will be with our almighty God. To live in His presence forever in worship and praise.

Thank You that we do not have to fear death, Lord. One day, we will stand with You in eternity. We pray for atheists and ask You to have them proclaim You as Lord. Turn hearts to Your truth. In Jesus' name, amen.
