The Lord God is with you, Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you but rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NIV.
The Lord will not rest in His love until we are all with Him. Jesus restored what Adam lost. But we can get caught in a Jimmy Gimme mentality. We request everything we desire. Yes, the Bible teaches us to pray for daily bread. Then supply all our needs. However, He didn't do that so we could tell Him what we wanted. He died and rose so we could commune with Him.
My greatest moments as a parent were not when my daughters obeyed or did chores. They were when we sat and talked. We connected through something together. I got to pray for them as we conversed. They hugged me and said I love you, Dad. It was not about receiving or getting gifts but family time.
My one daughter creates cards. That is special to me. I found joy in our phone conversations as I aged and cherished moments. I learned from experience. He and I talked on the phone and prayed in his last few years.
Pop Pop died a millionaire. I never received a penny of that. Which I never cared about. I did not want his money. It went for my Grandmother. He showed me how to be a good husband. I received a lot of wisdom from him. That was worth billions to me. Money and power fade. Knowledge makes us rich.
Time should be central to our lives. But the devil gets us so busy we forget life is short.
Christ died to reinstate it, and prayer is central to our daily lives. We commune with the Lord and with others.
Have we made time for You, Lord? Teach us to manage our lives better. Place moments where we can spend time with You, our families, and others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
