Cancelled

And all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 NIV.

I went to a Revival service years ago in Brownsville, Florida. The speaker played a video of over two hundred clips. The baffling part was I remembered most of them. He showed we need to be careful what we look at. When we listen to music, see ads, and images, they etch a permanent image in our minds.

I see something spiritual that is unpopular to express. A mental illness in our world that is contagious and makes people furious. Then desire to cancel us. A demonic inversion that converts thousands to worldly ways. Even believers. All when we witness things.

Gates were an important place in Biblical times. It was where leaders met to strategize. To defeat an enemy and protect their realm. The Word says the gates of Hades will not prevail. A gate will not attack people. It is the strategies of the devil. How can He help us become desensitized and adopt his mindset? To pull us away from the Lord who loves us.

I challenge us today to pray for what we watch. The images and music we allow to mold our lives. Allow God’s Spirit to direct and convict us if there are things we should avoid. I know this is hard. He had me submit to things I watched since childhood. The pursuit of more of Jesus and less of us is worth it all. Be careful though. When we speak of this, one may try to cancel us.

Guide us away from what holds us back from You, Lord. Let us see what is stagnating our relationships. Give us strength to surrender them today, In Jesus’ name, amen.
