A Fighting Chance

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. Matthew 16:24-25 NIV.

Everyone feels down sometimes. We need an encouraging word when this happens. My wife loves to let me know of my love for Star Trek. I watched the Search for Spock again this week and Kirk was at a low point. Bones went and encouraged him. He told Kirk he took death and turned it into fighting chances to live. We always win with God, even when we lose.

Audio Adrenaline sang a song get down. The lyrics went, To live your life, you’ve got to lose it and all the losers get a crown. We win when we lose our lives in Jesus. Our war is against the devil and the world. There is a boxing ring, and we have a choice to fight or surrender. When we enter, the world will toss us like a storm. It will tear us apart. When we’re on the ground, hope remains. We look to the corner where Jesus has His arm reached out. He is ready to be tagged in. Then we leap into His arms, and He takes over the battle. Our fight should’ve been His all along.

God gives us fighting chances. Cancer vanished when people laid hands on me during my illness. When I had financial, emotional, and physical fights, the Lord gave me the fighting chances. Every battle I fought there was collateral damage, even if I won. I had no issues when surrendering it to the Lord I love.

We have a choice to lose or win. But to lose gets us a crown. Get down. We always have a fighting chance when surrendering to Jesus.

Teach us to surrender all to You, Lord. Lead us to step back and let You step into the ring of our fights. Battle for us when we go against the wiles of the enemy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
